As one of the first liquor licenses to be issued in the Town of Barnstable after the repeal of prohibition, Cape Cod Package Store has quite a history in the village of Centerville. Owned and operated by the Pendergast family since 1939, Cape Cod Package Store has been in the wine & beverage retail business for 68 years. Jack and Sylvia Pendergast opened the original store at 404 Main Street in Centerville. In the early 1940’s, the business was moved to 1489 Falmouth Road on Route 28 and later expanded to encompass the existing location, pictured above, at 1495 Falmouth Road.
In 1967, John J. Pendergast Jr. took over operations of the store from his parents and is still running it today along with his daughters, Andrea & Danette. ‘Jack’ and his wife Shirley have devoted their time and energy over the years to making Cape Cod Package Store the respected fine wine and liquor store it is today. Along with their community involvement, serving on many committees, John Pendergast has always been one to support local fundraisers and charities through his company’s generous donations.
Over the years many changes have occurred in the wine and beverage retail industry, yet today Cape Cod Package Store prides itself on continuing to provide exceptional customer service and quality products.
