Feudo di Santa Croce is located in Apulia, on the Salento peninsula which stretches a hundred kilometres or so out into the Adriatic and the Ionian Sea, and is commonly known as “the heel” of the boot. Thanks to its water resources and climate, with a good range of temperature between day and night, this is Apulia’s wine-product region par excellence. The Tinazzi family planted the 15 hectares surrounding Feudo di Santa Croce with indigenous grapes, which it grows with much care and attention. Both the better known Primitivo di Manduria and Salice Salentino are part of this line, as are traditional labels such as Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera.

The story of Cantine Tinazzi began with the commitment and passion of Eugenio Tinazzi who founded the company in the late 1960’s in Cavaion Veronese, against the stunning backdrop of the hinterland of Lake Garda. Initially, it was a very small business, making and selling local Verona wines within the province. Over the years, sales rose and expanded to Lombardy and later throughout Northern Italy. Riding the wave of the company’s success, in the late 1970’s it moved to a larger site in Cavaion Veronese, which would be home to production, bottling and the administrative offices for the next 20 years. In the 1980’s, sales expanded to foreign markets, starting out in nearby Germany. In 1986, the Tinazzi family purchased the Tenuta Valleselle from the Camaldolese Order, 12 splendid hectares of vineyards and olive groves in the hills of Lake Garda, near Bardolino. In the 1990’s, exports grew and Tinazzi wines became available throughout Europe. In 1998, Giorgio Tinazzi joined the company, and was instrumental in launching Cantine Tinazzi across the Atlantic with exports to the United States of America. 2002 was a very important year for Cantine Tinazzi, when it moved to much larger premises in Lazise, also in the Lake Garda area, housing the all stages of the winemaking process - crushing, fermentation, bottling, sales, and the corporate and commercial offices. In 2001, the Tinazzi family decided to invest in a region with a strong vocation for wine by purchasing Feudo di Santa Croce in Apulia, with its 15 hectares of land. The company focused on exports and launched into new markets, including Russia and China in 2009. Cantine Tinazzi continued its path of expansion and in 2011 decided to invest again in Apulia. This time it bought Cantine San Giorgio, which it completely renovated and dedicated to the production of quality wines, cultivating 45 hectares of vineyards in Manduria. The company now owns 72 hectares of vineyards, divided between 4 estates in Veneto and Apulia. Currently, Cantine Tinazzi is managed by GianAndrea, the founder’s son, and his grandchildren Giorgio and Francesca. Its wines are sold throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, Russia, Brazil, India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, China and Australia.
